10 Amazing books to Gift on Teachers’ Day

Who says, teachers, don’t need some inspiration themselves from time to time?! A gentle reminder that every bad situation can be faced and turned into a good one; that they are right in fighting the wrongs; and that every good thing they do with student welfare in mind is an achievement by itself!

Teachers are the ones who have been truly and constantly instrumental in inspiring us to attain and give our best to society. They have the power to change mindsets, free us of all mental blocks, help us explore, learn, share, implement and then learn some more…

Although all days are good to express your gratitude towards your teachers, Teachers’ Day provides another wonderful opportunity to do something special for your teachers. Traditionally, students give flowers, chocolates, cards to their teachers to express their love and respect on this day. Special school assemblies are also organized to entertain teachers.

Planning an Event?

How about changing things a little?! Three ideas as food for thought:
1. How about school authorities or students stocking up the school library with some books that teachers would love to read? Dedicate that section of the library to teachers alone.

2. Many times, teachers gift motivational books to their students as a prize, when they do well. How about the student(s) gifting good inspirational books to their teacher(s) for a change?

3. A Teacher’s Farewell? How about collecting funds from other teachers and/or class students to gift a good set of inspiring books to the teacher who is moving away?!

#04. There Are No Shortcuts

About the Book:
Year after year, Rafe Esquith’s fifth-grade students excel. They read passionately, far above their grade level; tackle algebra; and stage Shakespeare so professionally that they often wow the great Shakespearean actor himself, Sir Ian McKellen. Yet Esquith teaches at an L.A. innercity school known as the Jungle, where few of his students speak English at home, and many are from poor or troubled families. What’s his winning recipe? A diet of intensive learning mixed with a lot of kindness and fun. His kids attend class from 6:30 A.M. until well after 4:00 P.M., right through most of their vacations. They take field trips to Europe and Yosemite. They play rock and roll. Mediocrity has no place in their classroom.

#05. Teach Like Your Hair’s On Fire: The Methods and Madness Inside Room 56

#10. The Emergency Teacher: The Inspirational Story of a New Teacher in an Inner-City School

Asquith, then a 25-year-old reporter joined their untrained ranks. More challenging than her classroom in the crime-infested neighborhood are the trials she faces, including a corrupt principal, the politics that prevented a million-dollar grant from reaching her students, etc. Her story will inspire, educate, and entertain.
