You might be forgiven for thinking that why bother about wedding trends for men when all eyes will be on the bride and her bridesmaids anyway! While that may have been the case until a few years ago, today, things have changed, with the groom and his friends also being the cynosure of all eyes at the wedding. Wedding trends have also changed to reflect this shift in perception, with men too becoming equally aware of the latest fashion trends and feeling the need to match up to the grandeur and elegance of the bride or the bridesmaids!
Trends have a tendency to come and go, but there some styles that are classics and perennial favorites. You can never go wrong with these styles and are assured of being received with much aplomb when you make your entrance dressed in this attire!
Beige and cream are some of the colors you can never go wrong with for wedding attire. Designer sherwarnis are always in style. Just remember to balance out the look. So if your sherwani is intricately embroidered and all grandiose (as it is bound to be!) then make sure your churidar is in a neutral color.
Modern trends in sherwanis tend to move away from the heavily embroidered look. They have a more understated look with bold colors, but are accentuated with a statement brooch or tiered necklaces.
Another modern trend is the Jodhpur Bandhgala. The Bandhgala is a very versatile outfit that can be paired with anything from formal trousers to jeans to dhotis and Jodhpuri pants.
Kurta Pyjama sets are another modern trend that is undergoing a makeover. They can be worn for everything from the wedding to the reception or for other rituals at home or parties afterwards. It all depends on how regal and aristocratic it looks!
Safas, as a headgear, is also becoming one of the latest fashion fads. The floral printed ones are winning the hearts of grooms as well as those in printed colors.
For western wear in men’s wedding attire, there are a host of options, with the most popular being the printed waistcoat. Mixing and matching these are the trendiest ways this season. So you could have a tuxedo with a printed shirt or a waistcoat that is patterned layered into a 3-piece suit set. Printed waistcoats can also be teamed up with a kurta pyjama set or kurta-churidar set for an added fusion element that will surely turn heads as you walk in!
Don’t forget velvet as a latest touch in men’s wear. Whether it is an appliqué work on jackets or as vests and waistcoats, velvet offers a really rich and glamorous look for the Indian groom.
Follow these trends and you are bound to create a stir at your wedding!
