Te maniye assi khushiyan bhari LohriLohri is a festival especially celebrated by Hindu, Sikhs and Punjabis around the world on 13th January. At this time, farmers harvest the Rabi crop in the fields. Lohri brings a whole galore of festive sentiments with it since it also marks as thanksgiving for farmers. The youngsters in the family seek the blessings of elders in the family and everyone rejoice at the traditional customs followed. Lohri is special for everyone in the Punjabi households but it is specially celebrated in style if there is new couple or a newborn baby in the family. Since it celebrates fertility, first Lohri after marriage or birth is a special occasion and celebrated with pomp and show.

Traditionally, Lohri was celebrated with songs, food, dance (especially bhangra and gidda) and music (especially dhol) in a traditional style. Lohri means good food, dance, and fun with friends and family. The music is especially important since there are many traditional special Lohri songs that have been sung for generations together. Today, along with these Desi songs, Bollywood music and DJ mixes are also part of the celebrations. But, Lohri songs are the very life of the whole celebration hence they are sung together with much vigor and excitement for all.
