Here are some ways to practice self-love and pamper yourself this valentine’s day.
We all have a few qualities that we are not willing to accept. Write a few affirmations that revolve around the qualities that you might dislike about yourself. Affirmations are small positive statements and you can write these for yourself and read them every day to instill within you a sense of self-acceptance.
Be kind to yourself, talk to yourself as you would to anyone else who might be upset. Self-compassion is the road that will lead to self-acceptance!
If you find yourself giving into plans of others and constantly picking up calls even though you might not want to, it is time for you to prioritize yourself and set some healthy boundaries. It Is okay to say no to others’ plans or want some time just for yourself. Just as your body needs rest to recharge, so does your mind. Taking time out for yourself and doing something you enjoy will not only improve your physical health but also your mental health.
It feels nice to pamper yourself every once in a while. This valentine’s day, take yourself out on a date, order your favourite food, watch a movie, or book a relaxing spa for yourself. You can also set up a super comfy chair or sofa and every time you feel demotivated or just sad for no apparent reason, sit in your own personalized corner, surrounded by your favourite things, and just take some time to yourself to think or calm down. Make it your ‘my safe space.’
Try out different methods of channelizing your emotions in a healthy way. Try journaling and writing everything down, or meditation or just explore the world of colours. You can also try some physical activity that might help you clear your mind when the emotions are overwhelming.
The ability to have a sense of humour about our own actions, mistakes and quirks is another form of self-acceptance. Laugh those embarrassing moments that you keep remembering off, just like you would with your best friend. If you are feeling insecure about your body, click some nice pictures out in the sun and have a picnic! Or if you feel unproductive, give yourself a break and start over because you are most likely feeling overworked. Instead of being self-deprecating, find a way to shrug off negative feelings with a smile and remind yourself how great you are.
Do something splurge-worthy today. Take a bubble bath. Eat those rich filled chocolates. Put on some makeup and paint your nails with a glittering polish. Look and feel stunning.
