A Christmas corporate party can either be one that people dread going to (and thereby dread going to any future events too) or one that they so thoroughly enjoy that they will be talking about it for months to come and look forward to the next one with bated breath! So which one do you want to organize? After all, how successful the party is will depend a great deal on the organizer and the ideas they implement. It is also a great opportunity to impress the boss and make more friends in your company!
Organizing a Christmas party need not be headache-inducing for the chief organizer. If you have been successful in arranging a party that others enjoy, but you are left with a headache at the end, it would not be such a great party after all! So here’s what you need to keep in mind to ensure that you enjoy the party as much as others do:
• Start the preparation and organization early, at least 2-3 weeks in advance, so you are not buried in an avalanche of party prep the day before the party!
• Get a vote for the date most convenient for the party so that you don’t have to go through the stress of changing the date later.
• Keep some money from the budget aside for emergency supplies. Do a budget allocation, prioritizing the tasks and things to buy.
• Make sure the party has a theme and decide this very early on so that you can customize the decor and send out the invitations for costumes, etc., around this theme.
Here are some ideas to ensure a party that everyone will remember for a long time to come!
• Take a break from office and arrange the party at an outside venue. It could be indoors or outdoors, but it will definitely bring in a breath of fresh air to your office party.
• Organize games and competitions that are out of the box and wacky so that people can just unwind and have some fun.
• Make sure the food and drinks are to everyone’s taste. These are the highlights of any Christmas party so make sure there is enough for everyone and that there is a good variety for everyone’s preferences. If anyone has special dietary requirements due to health-related issues or are vegans or vegetarians, make sure you find this out beforehand and include appropriate food and drink items in the menu.
• Have a special seating arrangement that mixes up the different departments and teams. This will ensure that people don’t stick to their own groups and will get around and socialize more, making it even more fun and definitely keeping in line with the Christmas spirit.
• Make sure there is enough entertainment to last the night. You definitely don’t want to forget the DJ and a Karaoke machine!
Having a great Christmas party is all about planning and organizing so make sure you get it right with these little helping hints!
