Post-Holi Skin Care Tips!!

Holi is only a few weeks away, which means everyone must have started gearing up for carefree fun with colours. But, what will happen when the celebration is over, you will want to get rid of all that colour as soon as possible, but that doesn’t mean you need to be harsh on your skin.

Your favourite fun festival can turn out to be a nightmare for your skin if not taken care properly. Rubbing your skin extremely and strongly can irritate your skin and can cause fine particles of the colours to enter deep into your skin. This does not mean that you have to cut down the celebration to protect your skin as with the correct post-Holi care management in place, you can have a good time.

Check out the tips below that will surely help you to get the colour off faster and keep the skin healthy.

1. Remove Holi Colours from Skin and Hair

Once you are done playing with colours, splash some cold or lukewarm water to get rid of the excess colours. Once you are free of the excess colours, take some olive oil on cotton and wipe your face and neck in the same way as you remove makeup from your face. Olive oil is a skin saver! Instead of washing your face with face wash or soap, use olive oil to remove colours but remember to be gentle.

Shampoo your hair at least twice, put on conditioner and serum to reduce dryness and frizziness.

2. Soothe Your Skin with Ice

Once you are done removing all the colours from your skin and hair now try soothing your skin with ice. Since you were out for the entire day under the direct sun, there are chances of your skin getting sunburnt and dry.

The best remedy to cure this is rubbing ice-cubes over your neck and face. Simply, wrap some ice cubes in a thin cotton cloth, and rub gently on your face and neck. Ice cubes will not only soothe your skin but will also provide relief from the heat, making your skin appear smooth.

3. Avoid Makeup After Holi

Since your skin has been exposed to chemicals and heat all day, it is suggested to avoid wearing too much makeup for at least a week to keep it toxin-free. If you do want to wear makeup, try opting for BB cream, moisturiser or compact powder as heavy makeups will not let your skin breathe.

4. Put Salon Treatments on hold Post-Holi

It is highly recommended not to go for painful salon treatments like threading, waxing, shaving, etc. at least for four to five days post-Holi. Your skin is already damaged by colours and sun exposure and these painful treatments can further irritate your skin. Give little time for your skin to heal before you visit a salon for any treatments.

5. Nourish Your Hair Post-Holi

Holi celebrations generally leave our hair too dry. Try oiling your hair thoroughly. Use mild shampoo thoroughly, nourish the hair with a good conditioner and a hair serum. Try Avoiding any kind of gels, sprays or heat-based treatments for a week.
